JOB TITLE:Associate Pastor
ACCOUNTABLE TO:Lead Pastor & Trinity Council
To better fulfill God’s vision for Trinity Lutheran Church, the Associate Pastor will have overall responsibility for the care of the life of the congregation through care ministry, administration, and small group ministry.
The associate pastor’s role is to lead the congregation by exampling the vision statement in their life. This role is overseen and examined by the Council in its effectiveness and importance to the life of Trinity Lutheran Church.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
•Master of Divinity degree
•Alignment with Trinity Lutheran Church’s statement of faith
•Alignment with Lutheran theology and doctrine as described in LCMC’s statement of faith
•A genuine passion for the gospel and ability to share with those who have not heard.
•A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).
•Experience in a multi-staff setting.
•Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
•Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
•Highly relational with spiritual gifts in mercy and care.
•Demonstrate personal, active faith in Jesus Christ.
•In cooperation with the lead pastor, encourage and support the vision of the congregation through prayer, education, and effective communication.
•Ensure ongoing ministry to homebound and nursing home church members, including hospital visits, home communion visits, care facility visits, and other move visits.
•Oversight of Care Ministry, coordinating, recruiting, and training leaders in this ministry.
•Work to expand the care network of Trinity ministries and people into the Columbus community and surrounding area.
•Direct supervision of care ministry assistant, office administrator, office assistant, financial administrator, financial assistant, and custodians.
•Oversight and education of worship support roles (ushering/hosting duties, greeter duties, communion set-up and servers, altar care, Grand Central volunteers, others as created and designed).
•In coordination with the lead pastor, ensure healthy work environment for employees.
•Participate in discussions which relate to the strategic use of Trinity’s facilities to fulfill its ministry and mission objectives.
•Strategize and implement a plan for small group ministry in the congregation.
•Direct church-wide campaigns and other special events.
•Recruit, train, equip and organize lay leaders.
•Record, recognize, and reach out to visitors and those interested in membership.
•Create, organize, and lead a comprehensive plan for new members including their investment in the congregation.
•Provide pastoral counseling as occasions arise and as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
•Preach and lead worship at regularly scheduled worship services, as assigned.
•Participate in special services, weddings, funerals and other rites of the church, as assigned.
•With other pastors, participate in teaching ministries, leading adults, teens and children in learning biblical truth and its application.
•Attend council meetings.
•Meet with and provide pastoral support to Memorial, Care, & Property Committees.
•Serve as a leader by example in personal discipleship, stewardship, and evangelism.
•Requires driver’s license and ability to travel using company or personal vehicle.
•May be required to work any day of the week.
•Able to communicate by speaking, hearing, seeing, caring, reading, and writing.
•Must promote positive image for Trinity Lutheran Church.
•A high degree of public contact is involved. Will deal on a frequent basis with sensitive and confidential matters. Strict confidence is required.
